What materials are used to make folding cartons?

We use board stocks ranging from 10pt to 24pt. This substrate can be coated or uncoated, and the most popular combination we produce is a coated, one-sided 18pt. We also use coated recycled board (CRB/CCNB), foil board and clear poly.

What types of finishes and embellishments are available?

Finishes include flood lamination and flood aqueous coating, as well as ultraviolet (UV) coating with spot and flood options. Flood coating will cover the entire area of your folding carton, whereas spot coating allows you to choose when and where the protective coating will be applied. Embellishments include foil stamping, embossing and debossing. Foil stamping is a process where a metal die is heated and causes your foil choice to adhere to the carton substrate. Foil stamping is usually combined with embossing and allows you to use light colors on dark stocks in dull or glossy finishes. Embossing creates multi-dimensional images by pressing artwork directly onto the carton. A metal plate/die reshapes the paper into your desired design. Ink is then added to make a concise look and defined appearance. Debossing is the opposite of embossing. It adds depth to any design by adding sunken images. Like the embossing process, a metal plate/die reshapes the paper to match the artwork, but in the opposite direction.
