Conversations with Glen Taylor: S3: E7- Amsterdam

Video

Watch how Taylor’s acquisition of Amsterdam Printing shifted decision-making from family-led discussions to a streamlined managerial approach.

In this episode of the Conversations with Glen Taylor video series, Glen talks about acquiring Amsterdam Printing, a multi-generation family business.

Founded in 1898, Amsterdam Printing originated from creating postal flashcards to assist postal workers in passing tests and earning more money. When the transition of ownership from the founder’s family to Taylor took place, the founder’s son had been running the company for many years. The decision to sell the company without the condition of keeping any of the founder’s children on board was considered unusual — however, Steve, the youngest, was asked to stay, managing the company post-acquisition successfully. The acquisition was deemed successful due to Amsterdam's alignment with Taylor's expertise in imprinting and direct marketing.
